Education Foundation Grant Recipients

Since 2010, the Foundation has funded:

  • Over $90,000 in teacher classroom grants.

  • $141,200 directly to our schools.

  • Over $43,000 in other grants.

  • Over $329,000 in student scholarship.

Spring 2019 Classroom Grants

The Foundation is pleased to announce the funding of the following grants (in no particular order):

  • "iCan Learn About Music”: PB; Mickelson; $414.99
  • "Read and Ride”: HS; Wight; $460.00
  • "Compasses and Protractors”: HS; Little and Starks; $510.00
  • "Fit Bit Watches”: HS; Peterson; $495.68

These five grants, submitted by 7 teachers and directly impacting over 1,200 students in three different buildings, total $2,848.73.

Fall 2017 Classroom Grants

The Grain Valley Education Foundation is pleased to announce the funding of the following teacher grants (in no particular order) for the Fall 2017 semester:

  • "Osmo”: Stony Point; Watson; $494.00
  • "Battle Ropes”: NMS; Scrogham; $485.53
  • “Alternative Seating”: GVHS; Miller; $497.69
  • “Lee’s Lucky Learners”: NMS; Lee; $500.00
  • “Sensational Supports”: Sni-A-Bar; Galvan; $500.00
  • “IEP Goal Work Games & Activities”: SMS; Chrisman & Via; $888.95
  • “A Cut Above the Rest”: GVHS; Malott; $494.85
  • “Readers For Life”: NMS; Gale; $150.00

These eight grants, submitted by nine teachers and directly impacting nearly 1.400 students in five different buildings, total $4,011.02.

A review committee evaluated the eight applications independently. The grants were scored according to the rubric that accompanied the call for applications, as well as the reviewers' ranking of the applications when compared to each other.

Spring 2018 Classroom Grants

The Grain Valley Education Foundation is pleased to announce the funding of the following grants (in no particular order) for the Spring 2018 semester:

  • "Intensive Teaching Strategies": ECSE; Bersuch, et al; $2,223.01
  • "Manipulatives for MS Mathematics": NMS; Whetstone, et al; $1,382.08
  • "Spiralize It": GVHS; Lane and Malott; $988.93
  • "Language Lesson Kits": SAB; Long and Murphy; $514.00
  • "Classroom Management Rugs": SP; Watson; $492.98
  • “Steps”: NMS; Kolster; $472.25

In addition, the Foundation awards a $1250.00, 50/50 matching grant to North Middle School to help fund their “Second Step Program for Social-Emotional Learning”.

These seven grants, submitted by 21 teachers and directly impacting over 1,400 students in five different buildings, total $7,323.25.
