Color Contrast

Color Contrast

Color Contrast is defined as the difference in brightness, saturation, and hue between colors, making them distinct from one another. Color Contrast creates challenges for many individuals nationwide. That is why we must be cautious of the color combinations we use when creating digital content. This includes newsletters, graphics, and the district website.

There must be enough contrast between the colors you choose for your text, logos, or icons and the background in order to be legible and accessible to all viewers. This is determined by a program that measures color contrast and compares it to standards within the ADA Web Accessibility Standards and Requirements, which our district will follow.

*School districts will follow WCAG AA Guidelines, and there are many free resources available online; the Web AIM Free Color Contrast Checker is recommended to provide consistent results district-wide.
