Grain Valley Schools Delivers Missouri TOP 10% Performance in Annual Performance Report (APR)

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has released the latest APR scores for school districts across the state. First, we’d like to explain a little more about what these results are and what they mean for our district.
What is APR?
Missouri’s DESE has an accountability model for school districts called the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP). DESE uses an Annual Performance Report (APR) to score districts on their performance and improvement.
Grain Valley Schools APR Overview
As a district, Grain Valley scored 92% overall, up from 84.7% the previous year. The data used in this APR is from last spring (2025). Scoring 92% places Grain Valley Schools 1st among all Jackson County schools, 3rd in the Kansas City metro area, and in the top 10% of schools statewide — an outstanding achievement that reflects our collective commitment to excellence.
Action steps we put into place following last year’s results to address the needs of our students through our strategic plan appear to be making a difference.
Grain Valley Schools Annual Performance Report: Key Results and Next Steps
- In English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science, our schools achieved substantial growth in student performance, contributing significantly to the rise in our overall APR score. In both English Language Arts and Mathematics performance, our students earned 100% of the points.
- Our Success Ready Student performance for advanced credit also hit 100%, demonstrating that all our students are successfully participating in advanced coursework, career training, or other college and career preparation experiences.
- Our graduation rate earned 100% of the points, with more than 92% of our high school students graduating in four years.
- Our continuous improvement score, which accounts for 30% of our overall score, reached 98.3% this year.
- We continue to make attendance a top priority, coming within just nine-tenths of a percent of meeting our goal last spring.
Although the APR score validates key elements of our measurable growth, we recognize that not all critical factors for student success are quantifiable. We are dedicated to maintaining our strength in the APR-emphasized areas while remaining focused on the core priorities valued most by our community.
