Grain Valley High School has been named to the Advance Placement (AP) Honor Roll. The AP Honor Roll highlights schools across the country that create a college-going culture and provide students with opportunities to earn college credit.

Schools are selected for this annual recognition by the College Board. To qualify, schools must meet specific targets across three key metrics for their most recent graduating class.

  1. College Culture – Percentage of students in the graduating class who took at least one AP exam at any point during their high school career.
  2. College Credit – The percentage of the graduating class who scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam.
  3. College Optimization – The percentage of the graduating class who took 5 or more AP exams throughout high school, with at least one taken in 9th or 10th grade. Encouraging students to spread out their workload throughout their high school career.

AP Courses are offered at Grain Valley High School and provide opportunities for students to challenge themselves with college level courses. At the end of the course, students are tested, and scored.

There are many benefits to the AP process for students that extend far beyond high school. According to AP Central, students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time and have a proven track record of setting students up for success in their post-secondary journey.

Grain Valley High School offers 13 different Advanced Placement classes and interested students should discuss options with their counselor.
