GVHS Cheer team poses with their plaque after placing 1st in the MCCA State ChampionshipsThe Grain Valley High School (GVHS) Cheer team knows a thing or two about winning. Over the years, GVHS Cheer has claimed over a dozen state titles, and this year, another was added. But the road to the State Tournament was not easy.

Back in September, the Eagles Cheer team faced a few extra challenges the day before regionals after an unfortunate injury. Quickly adapting, the team and coaches worked together to create a solid routine that would land them a second-place finish, and a state qualification.

“The girls trusted us as coaches that we were going to do whatever it took to set them up for success,” said Head Coach Ashley Bosserman. “They came in with positive mindsets, encouraging attitudes, and were ready for the challenge,” she continued.

Despite the challenges the team had faced, the Eagles found themselves less than a point behind the first-place finish at the regionals competition. After Regionals, the team continued to adjust their routine in order to further succeed in hopes of a state championship.

As October came to a close, the Eagles packed up and headed to Columbia, Missouri for the State Competition. At the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association State Competition, GVHS competed in the Class 5 Small division against schools such as: St. Joe Central High School, Neosho High School, Wentzville Liberty High School, Willard High School, and more.

The Eagles had an impressive turnout as they scored a 105.97, with the max score that could be received being 110.

Congratulations to the Eagles on their outstanding achievement and first-place finish.
